#sxstarwars

Some days, it’s the really quirky things that make me smile. Today it’s the explosion of the #sxstarwars tag on Twitter.

I suppose it started as a play on the SXSW event taking place this week, but the really amazing thing is how fast something like this can catch on and spread throughout the users logged in to Twitter. The tag #sxstarwars became the number 2 trend almost as soon as someone @jaybushman started it.

I think its stuff like this that really shows why Twitter is something special.

    That was awesome, what an unexpected surprise. And you can’t do that on Facebook. :P

    I agree, Dan. Even with the new “real time” features added to Facebook, it still doesn’t allow you to dive into random conversations as easily as Twitter does.

    To be honest, I’m not sure that this is something Facebook needs to be able to do, but that is an entirely different blog post :-)

    Awesome, Jay. I’m sure the event entertained a lot of people today. I am certainly glad for it as a much appreciated distraction from the studying I should be doing.

    I’m curious to see how you will make use of Facebook.
